The end of the year is a good time for summing up and making new plans. Let me also share my reflections on power industry and our company.
The year 2004 was very important for the industry. It was affected by the economic growth; energy production volume and sales have increased. However, the greatest success was commencing operations concerning the formation of organisational structures connecting fuel acquisition with power generation and distribution. Luckily, also in this case we can take advantage of the solutions developed in the European Union.
In the PKE, the continuing cost reduction and increase of profit were important achievements. We spend less money for repairs, purchases, also labour cost were reduced.
In spite of the profit increase, the energy prices offered to our customers have not increased and have remained on the same level for several years. However, end customers should also recognise that situation. In the case of heat energy produced in PKE, we took one step further – we offer the heat generated in Katowice Combined Heat and Power Plant and Łagisza Power Plant 5 percent cheaper than in the previous heating season.
I believe that in the 2005 we shall manage to build two integrated power groups, which will function along with the previously privatised power companies. We have big hopes concerning the emerging "Polish Energy Policy until 2025". This document should determine the directions of development of our company as well as the scope of using particular energy carriers. I wish you all another 12 months that will be at least as successful as the passing year.
