A company is first and foremost the staff. Without involvement on the part of the employees, without their effort but also without honest collaboration between the executives and employees, the opportunities of development, excellent performance and above all brave decisions which allow the company to be recognized as the leader in the industry, are none. This has always been my conviction, in which I have never been disappointed. I followed this principle for years in Jaworzno and now I do in PKE.
Our company has been operating for six years now. As you know, from the very outset, we have been arranging and standardizing the functioning of our eight power plants and heat and power plants. First we focused on the purchase of fuels, investment and restoration policy, accounting, finances and commerce. Then, we entertained other areas of activity. It was worth it – I am writing these words with full confidence. Thanks to our determination, we managed to save millions of zlotys, which is extremely important in the face of the prospective opening of the energy market, which is to take place in a few months. We organized the rules on granting bonuses and payment of seniority premiums.
Soon, we are going to harmonize the payroll. Arrangement of organization schemes in the plants as well as occupation nomenclature will be another important issue. We are going to pursue even more motivating system of remuneration. Obviously, such decisions cannot be made immediately. The interest of the company is the most important thing. Nevertheless, one must also respect the employees’ rights. Therefore, these concerns are subject to discussion with employees. I believe that the trade unions which represent the staff will adopt a positive attitude towards the prospect often brave proposals of the Executive Board. We have often managed to reach solutions which benefited both of the parties, although the negotiations were tough.
On 26 February, we accomplished mediations on pay rise for 2007. We have determined a 3.4% increase of pay. We are aware that there are trade unions which attained higher pay rises; yet one must consider the costs of such practice, capacity of the employers to afford such expenses and the impact on the company in the future years...
