A kick-off meeting for the project ‘Development of high-efficiency fluidized-bed technology for the assurance of flexible oxy-combustion in power plant with CCS’ was held in PKE on September 3-4, 2009. the project will be carried out as a part of the European Union Seventh Framework Program.
The first day of the meeting was devoted to the determination of the scope of works for all project participants. PKE was represented by 460 MW power unit Construction Manager – Eugeniusz Białoń and the Technical Manager of Lagisza Power Plant – Ziemowit Słomczyński.
Ziemowit Słomczyński reported on the scope of works carried out by PKE. These works will mainly concern the fuel selection, execution of necessary measuring works in Lagisza Power Plant Circulating Fluidized-Bed Boiler as well as the estimation of the investment and operation costs related to the oxy-combustion technology alongside the determination of potential locations for the captured CO2 storage .
On the second day, the participants visited Lagisza Power Plant site where Ziemowit Słomczyński gave a presentation on 460 MW power unit and than the group visited the installation.
Science centers, power equipment manufacturers and electric energy generators from Finland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Poland are participants in the project. Our country is represented by PKE SA and Czestochowa University of technology. Consortium Agreement signing with other project participants is planned very shortly. In the nest stage, VTT a company from Finland which is the project coordinator, will sign the agreement with the European Commission for the financing of the research works. The project will last for three years.
