TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. is part of the TAURON Polska Energia SA holding; the company's share in the national electrical energy market is 14%, and 16% in the local heat production market.
Tauron Group investment plans and experience from the construction and operation of the new 460 MW power unit in Łagisza Power Plant’ is the title of the conference held on October 22 and 23, 2009 in PKE SA Łagisza Power Plant.
Polish Chamber of Power Industry and Environment Protection organized the conference gathering many representatives of power industry and power-related fields. More than 100 persons listened to the presentations given by the speakers.
The conference was commenced by Mr. Jan Kurp, the Chairman of the PKE SA Management Board, who familiarized the conference participants with the repowering issues giving PKE SA power plants as an example. Mr. Kurp discussed the necessity of gradual repowering of old, worn out power units and construction of cutting edge, effective and sustainable technologies.
Mr. Eugeniusz Białoń, 460 MW Power Unit Construction Director, shared his experience concerning the organization of works and construction progress of 460 MW power unit in Łagisza Power Plant and Mr. Andrzej Kowalski, Chairman of Energorojekt Katowice SA Management Board, presented the optimum solutions for supercritical units for PKE conditions.
Others speakers included the representatives of the contractors of particular parts of the project. The following persons discussed their experiences and the impact of them on the further technology development: Jarosław Mlonka – Chairman of Foster Wheeler Energia Polska Management Board, Adam Smolik – Chairman of Zakład Techniki Cieplnej Energopomiar Management Board and Jan Penar – director of Zakład Techniki Cieplnej Energopomiar as well as Leszek Szczygieł – Vice-chairman of Uniserv – Budownictwo Przemysłowe SA Management Board.
After the presentations and the discussions, the conference participants visited the new 460 MW power unit in Łagisza Power Plant. It was an excellent opportunity to see the pioneer solutions applied in practice.
The conference was concluded with a discussion panel during which the participants exchanged experiences and opinions.
