100-year-old light bulb, the so-called Edison bulb was lit in the Electricity Museum in Łaziska Górne. It was an occasion for Tauron Polska Energia Management Board and the representatives of the Supervisory Board to meet with media during the traditional annual New Year’s meeting.

PKE Group won the auction and the right to name a roundabout located in the center of Jaworzno. Proceeds from this undertaking went to Wielka Orkiestra Światecznej Pomocy (the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity).

Clean Coal Technologies Conference was held as part of power industry fairs Silesia power Meeting organized in Sosnowiec. Content-related supervision was carried out by the following institutions: University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Silesian University of Technology and Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA, Tauron Polska Energia SA and Polish Clean Coal technologies Platform.

Election of the so-called staff representatives to Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA Supervisory Board was held. During the 5th tenure of the Supervisory Board the following 2 persons from the biggest power plants will represent PKE SA personnel: Zdzisław Przydatek from PKE SA Jaworzno III Power Plant and Andrzej Dziubany from PKE SA Łaziska Power Plant.

In the tender procedure Management Board of PKE selected the offer covering the design, delivery, assembly and start-up of OFz – 201 biomass-fired boiler to be constructed in Jaworzno III Power Plant – Power Plant II. The most valuable offer was submitted by the consortium led by Rafako SA.

Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA and the consortium of companies led by Rafako SA signed a contract for the design, delivery, assembly and start-up of biomass-fired boiler together with the storage and feed systems. Once the investment project has been completed, PKE will generate more green energy which in turn will lead to a considerable CO2 emission reduction.

Pursuant to the contract, the construction site in Bielsko-Biała EC1 (CHP1) was handed over to the contractor – Polimex – Mostostal SA which will carry out a complete modernization.

Within the framework of the contract for the construction of the new heat and power unit with a fluidized-bed boiler, back-pressure turbine, two peak boilers and a heat accumulator in Bielsko-Biała EC1, Polimex – Mostostal signed a contract with Foster Wheeler for the design, delivery, assembly, start-up and commissioning of the fluidized-bed boiler in Bielsko-Biała EC1.

Tauron Polska Energia stocks had a debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. One hour later, Aleksander grad, Minister of the Treasury, officially announced the company debut. Numerous guests participated in this highly important event – investors, advisors, Tauron PE executives, company partners and the representatives of the Treasury.

Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA signed a contract with a consortium Fortum power and Heat Oy and Zakłady Remontowe Energetyki Katowice SA for the modernization of six boilers type OP – 650k operating in Jaworzno III Power Plant in order to make them in line with lower nitrogen oxides emission standards.

The process of stock conversion from the consolidated companies in Tauron Group into Tauron Polska Energia SA shares was completed as well as the process of free shares disposal of the consolidating company to the inheritors of the persons authorizes to have the shares of the consolidated companies. authorized shareholders of Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA, Enion, EnergiaPro and Stalowa Wola Power Plant participated in the process.

Building-in of a corner stone for the construction of the new 50 MWe and 106MWt power unit took place in Bielsko-Biała EC1.

There was a meeting of Południowy Koncern Energetyczny Supervisory Board. Pursuant to the Board decision, Stanisław Tokarski was appointed PKE SA Management Board Chairman. S. Tokarski worked as Tauron Polska Energia Vice-chairman of the Management Board till the end of August.. Jan Kurp was appointed the vice-chairman of PKE SA Management Board. As a result the Management Board of PKE SA consists of the below listed members: Stanisław Tokarski (chairman), Jan Kurp, Henryk Tymowski, Mariusz Rechul, Piotr Mateja i Tadeusz Koj (vice-chairmen).

General Director of Power Exchan¬ge Central Europe (PXE), David Kučera and chairmen of Tauron Czech Energy, Eugeniusz Sawicki and Jiří Michalik – in the presence of Jan Pastwa, the ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Czech Republic and Tauron Polska Energia Vice-chairman – Krzysztof Zamasz – signed an agreement pursuant to which Tauron group is entitles to trade on the Czech energy exchange.

The Management Board of Warsaw Stock Exchange granted Tauron Polska Energia a status of Member of the Commodity Exchange Market. Tauron is one of the first entities to have been given this status.

133rd Polish Academy of Science Power Industry Committee Meeting was held in Jaworzno III Power Plant.
October 18
General Director for the Environment Protection in Warsaw entered PKE SA Jaworzno III Power Plant in the national register of organizations which implemented EMAS system. The power plant was given number PL 2.24 – 009 – 22 and was given the right to use EMAS logo. Jaworzno III power plant is the ninth company in Silesia and the twenty second in Poland to have been honored this way.

A soft loan agreement was signed with the Regional Environment Protection and Water Management Fund in Katowice. The loan of PLN 40 million will help construct a biomass-fired boiler with auxiliary equipment for 50 MW power unit in Jaworzno III Power Plant.

3rd conference Energatykon was organized in Sofitel Victoria Hotel in Warsaw where the 14th edition of the Polish Power Industry White Tiger Laurels – Energy 2010 was held. In the category of outstanding personalities in Polish power industry the laurel was awarded to, among others, Kazimierz Szynol, managing director of PKE SA Jaworzno III Power Plant; in the category ‘young and promising’ the White Tiger Laurel was given to Krzysztof Zamasz, Tauron Polska Energia Mangement Board Vice-chairman. In the power companies the award was given to Tauron Polska Energia for the success on the stock exchange.

Kompania Węglowa and generation companies from Tauron Group signed three-year coal purchase contracts. During this time Poludniowy Koncern Energetyczny, Combined Heat and Power Plant Nova, Tychy CHP and Energatyka Cieszyńska will purchase over PLN 2.4 billion worth energy coal from the biggest energy coal producer in the European Union.

A group of Chugoku Electric Power representatives, a Japanese power industry company, and Hitachi visited Łaziska Power Plant. The visit was a outcome of the Letter of Intent signed on May 6, 2010 under the auspices of Japanese and Polish governments concerning the cooperation between Chugoku Electric Power and Tauron Polska Energia.

Tauron Polska Energia was listed among the twenty biggest stock exchange listed companies as far as Warsaw Stock Exchange is concerned. In accordance with the Stock Exchange announcement, Tauron is on the eighth position in WIG20 with a 4% share.
