  • 11 January
    Representatives of the Management Boards of Kompania Węglowa (Coal Company) and Południowy Koncern Energetyczny (Southern Poland Power Company) signed a contract for fuel supplies to the PKE power plants and combined heat and power plants. The contract will remain valid for five years.
  • 25 January
    Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA established Południowy Koncern Węglowy SA (Southern Poland Coal Company). In July Południowy Koncern Węglowy SA took over the assets and staff of two mining entities from PKE SA Capital Group: ZGE Sobieski Jaworzno III and ZGE Janina.
  • 7 February
    The Provincial Administrative Court in Katowice based in Gliwice passed verdicts which overturned decisions of the Fiscal Chamber in Katowice on PKE SA liability to pay 63 million PLN with interests.
  • 14 and 15 April
    The meeting of the Supervisory Board of Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA was held. The Board, among other things, appointed the Management Board for a new three-year term, summed up 2004 and gave a positive opinion on the company strategy for 2005-2007.
  • 9 June
    The Annual General Meeting of Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA was held in Jaworzno. Among other things, the shareholders passed resolutions on approval of reports on the company operation in the financial year 2004 prepared by the Management Board and the Supervisory Board as well as on approval of the financial statement as on 31 December 2004.
  • 25 August
    The Extraordinary General Meeting of PKE SA was held in Jaworzno. Among other things, the shareholders passed resolutions on approval of the report on the PKE SA Capital Group operation in the financial year 2004 prepared by the Management Board and on the consolidated financial statement as on 31 December 2004.
  • 8 September
    The delegation of Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA to Lvov signed a Letter of Intent on co-operation with Zakhidenergo Ukraine which belongs to NAK – the Power Company of Ukraine.
  • 12 October
    PKE SA may issue bonds for construction of the power block in Łagisza Power Plant – decided the Extraordinary General Meeting of the company.
  • 14 October
    Local authorities, researchers and entrepreneurs found that the future of Polish coal depends on efficient and environmentally friendly technologies for coal processing and burning, and established Innowacyjny Śląski Klaster Czystych Technologii Węglowych (the Innovative Silesian Cluster of Clean Coal Technologies).
