The Southern Poland Power Company is part of the TAURON Polska Energia SA holding; the company's share in the national electrical energy market is 14%, and 16% in the local heat production market.
The idea
The idea of consolidation of electrical energy and heat producers has appeared in the postulates of the power industry milieus since the early nineties. There were attempts to put this idea into practice. However, none of them ended in a success.
Finally, at the end of 1999 and at the beginning of 2000 – as a result of a series of discussions, consultations and agreements, the idea of consolidation returned and gained a real chance of success.
