Both stations (EC1 and EC2) supply the common district heating and warm water system of Bielsko-Biała city. EC2 supplies the heating and water systems of the town of Czechowice-Dziedzice. The heat is sold to heat distributors supplying these towns, while electrical energy is supplied to the national energy system.
The main fuel is coal, supplied from the neighbouring mines of Nadwiślańska Spółka Węglowa SA (mining corporation): KWK „Silesia” (Silesia mine), KWK „Brzeszcze” (Brzeszcze mine) and KWK „Piast” (Piast mine). Both oil and gas are also used in small volumes.
