Halemba Power Plant

Halemba Power Plant is located in the southern part of Ruda Śląska in the Valley of Kłodnica River. The neighbour of the power plant is „Halemba” mine, located behind the river. From the other sides it is surrounded by a forest. Nearby the A-4 motorway is being built. The power plant has the acceptance for its activities and very good relations with the local community.

The installed electrical capacity of the power plant amounts to 200 MW. The power plant has four units – 50 MWe each of them. Within 40 years the units have worked ca. for 235 000 hours.

The power plant has the heating module with the thermal capacity of ca. 60 MWt.

Halemba Power Plant has been continually modernized. The goals of modernization were:

  • to conform to the strict ecological norms
  • to improve the efficiency of generation and to decrease in the energy price
  • automation of the processes
  • to increase in disposal and to reduce damage possibility of main and auxiliary devices
  • to increase computer usage.

The goals of modernizations have been achieved.

The power plant has 275 full-time work places. The most of them are connected with the operation of devices. The average age of employees is 40. The staff is organised in three trade unions.
