The Southern Poland Power Company is part of the TAURON Polska Energia SA holding; the company's share in the national electrical energy market is 14%, and 16% in the local heat production market.
The Southern Poland Power Company Plc. has received the Energy Regulatory Office Chairman’s decision which changes the stipulations in the electric energy generation license in Jaworzno III and Laziska power plants allowing power generation in cogeneration with biomass. In case of both power plants, the amount of biomass in the general fuel stream can amount to 10%.
The permissible mixes for Jaworzno III in accordance with the license are: forest biomass, energy forestry biomass, energy crop biomass, agricultural waste biomass, agricultural waste products processing biomass. Forest biomass (chips and deciduous, coniferous and mixed trees groundwood) was accepted as the fuel for Laziska power plant boilers.
