The 460MW power block blowdown was commenced on November 13, 2008.
The blowndown carried out in the pressure part of the CFB boiler as well as the steam pipelines is aimed at removing mechanical impurities remaining after the assembly and the welding scale from the pipelines internal surfaces. The loadstone protective layer will also be applied in the aforementioned parts. Currently there are intensive finishing works concerning the block automation and power take off.
The completion of the project will allow the Southern Poland Power Company to produce clean energy at competitive costs. Due to high unit efficiency the CO2 emission will be reduced by 25% compared to the production units working presently in Lagisza Power Plant. Simultaneously, emission of both SO2, and NOx will not exceed 200 mg/Nm3 which meets EU directive requirements and is pursuant to the Accession Treaty bequests. The planned commissioning will take place in the first quarter of 2009 after 720 hour-long test start-up. The power of the block will amount to 460MW.
The investment costs come to PLN 2 billion financed from the company’s own funds, the pro-ecological resources and from the sale of bonds. Lagisza Power Block will consume circa 1.2 million tons of coal.
The construction works have lasted since January 2006.
