After seven years in PKA S.A. Management Centre as Manufacturing and Ecological Policy Director you are returning to Łaziska Power Plant. How does it feel?
The years I spent in Łaziska Power Plant were for me happy and prosperous. Similarly to the period of employment in the concern’s headquarters. I am returning as a director to a power plant that I am well-acquainted with. I started my work here 30 years ago, directly after graduation, going through all professional levels - including that of economic director. In Łaziska Power Plant I also spent 14 years as an instructor in a vocational school and a secondary school of technical education, therefore I am certainly remembered by many also in this capacity.
Łaziska Power Plant is very specific. It is one of the best plants nationwide, but at the same time it requires proper approach in order not to maintain its leading position. What is your recipe for success?
We need to make efforts in order to not only maintain this position, but also to improve it. We are used to it in Łaziska.
Are you also referring here to new investments?
Certainly. Current basic power generating plant in Łaziska dates back to the second half of 1960’s, while the newest 200-megawatt blocks to year 1970-71. Łaziska must prepare for a new and extensive technological investment that will ensure a net efficiency at the level of 46-70 per cent. This could be, for example, an 800-900 MW coal block for supercritical parameters. We should be already thinking about such a task in order for Łaziska to continue operations during following decades, also after year 2016.
You are a frequent guest in Paris, Brussels …
I represent Polish energy sector in Eurelectric organization associating representatives of the sector from entire Europe. I am also a Polish representative in VGB – a technical organization associating major power plants from EU member states. There are a few people sharing this passion in Poland. We form a well-organized team supporting the entire sector and ministries: of Environment and of Economy. I believe I will be able to continue my efforts.
Thank you for the interview.
