270 tons already reached their destination

2007.11.08

Due to its Wright and dimensions, the stator was not an easy component to transport. The component was delivered to Łagisza by a special 24-axis wagon Norca 24 with 300-ton capacity. The 42.56-long wagon was constructed especially for shipment of heavy power plant (high power transformers and generators) and large-size special loads. The component has multiple additional functions such as an option to tilt the shipped load away from the wagon's axis. Lifting of the generator from the wagon, as well as mounting and assembly was commissioned to Alstom Power.

Preparatory works were carried out from October 8th and consisted in assembly of a special structure for the purpose of unloading and mounting of the generator in the machine room. On October 15th final preparations were carried out - such as assembly of unloading hooks, rigging, and other elements essential for efficient lifting and mounting of the generator stator onto its foundation.

Transportation from the wagon to the foundation site began in the morning on October 16th. Block-based lifting equipment especially designed for this purpose by Düsseldorf-based Lastro was used. The 50WT23E -104 generator has a compact structure. Applied insulating materials comply with Class F requirements, while temperature increases do not exceed limits set for Class B. The stator’s core and the rotor’s winding are cooled directly by hydrogen, while the stator’s winding is cooled with water. The hydrogen cooling system ensures high performance of the generator for various loads. (DW).
