TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. is part of the TAURON Polska Energia SA holding; the company's share in the national electrical energy market is 14%, and 16% in the local heat production market.
Larger PKE power plants and heat power plants have already obtained ISO certificates. However, the corporation’s Management Board decided to include the whole company in the certification. “The first implementation works concerning management systems started in some of our power plants in the 90s., which contributed to the fast and efficient standardization of the system at PKE”, said Jan Kurp, President of PKE, at the award ceremony.
The process, aimed at the implementation of the Certificate for the Integrated Management System common for all PKE units, started in 2003. In December, 2006 an audit was carried out at the Management Centre, Katowice Heat Power Plant, and the Complex of Heat Power Plants in
The obtained certificate integrates formerly applied procedures. This is another vital stage in the consolidation of PKE plants, enabling the company to have a fresh view on management. The certificate also provides a stimulus for the improvement of many operations.
“We have made a decision about joint certification because common sense suggested following a simple rule: one company – one certificate. I do believe that this will enable us to improve the management system, despite the special operations of PKE,” stated Henryk Tymowski, Deputy President of PKE and the Representative of the Management Board for the Integrated Management System.
Within the framework of system improvement special emphasis will be placed on increased efficiency of the flow in communication channels between all company units, which will contribute to the further consolidation of the entire company.
Filip Grzegorczyk, President of the Supervisory Board of PKE and Deputy President of Energetyka Południe (which by the decision of the Minister of the Treasury of 9 May became the owner of 85 percent of the concern's shares), said during the certificate award ceremony: “This is a red-letter day for the concern. I am convinced that with such a subsidiary as PKE Energetyka Południe we can look forward to the future with confidence. I congratulate all who have contributed to this success.”
