A mixture of efficient coal was used with 10% addition of sawdust. The test included unloading, coaling of the boiler, grinding in mills, boiler operation, coal, slag and ash samples analysis. SAT and PROCONTROL systems were used in efficiency analysis.
Tests started on May, 20 from the ZM1 mill at unit 10. The complex fuelled with coal and biomass mixture worked correctly, there was no negative impact of the mixture on the boiler operation.
On May 21, the proper test was carried out at unit 11. There were no problems with the mixture. There was no negative impact on the process of flue gas desulphurisation process.
In total, approximately 1000 tons of mixture was burned, with 100 tons of biomass, i.e. sawdust.
In July, the second stage of the test was conducted in which 10 000 tons of mixture including approximately 1000 tons of biomass was burned. The main objective of the test was evaluation and measurement of the boiler efficiency in the process of co-combustion of biomass, assessment of mills operation, efficiency of the unit, functioning of the automatic controls and operation of the 2 IOS line as well as testing of slag and ashes for their recycling properties. On the basis of these results, Energopomiar Company shall prepare the certification documentation of the process. Moreover, ICHPW will prepare an opinion about the compliance of the methods of ‘green energy’ settlement with the currently valid legal regulations. This opinion will be prepared based on an audit and certification documentation. PKE can thus apply to Urząd Regulacji Energetyki [Energy Regulatory Commission] for a permit to generate green energy by Łaziska Power Plant. (ms)
